Isobelle Ouzman doesn't like to see anything thrown away. That penchant for rescuing and recycling old and discarded items took an amazing turn in 2012. While taking a familiar shortcut through an alley in Seattle, she saw a box sitting near a dumpster. Inside, she found a collection of hard cover novels. Thinking there may still be some life left in the old books, she collected them and took them home.

A scant three years later, and the transformation of those old books is nothing short of jaw-dropping. By experimenting on novels she found in alley ways or reclaimed from thrift stores, Isobelle perfected an artistic technique that sets her art apart. Using nothing more than glue, an artist's knife, ink pens and water color pencils, Isobelle transformed the discarded books into tributes to the nature and fairy-tales that are her passion. She describes herself as a "quiet lady", but admits her imagination is anything but quiet and tame. The discarded books, in Isobelle's hands, morph from mere words on paper into the images that weave through her thoughts each day.
